Professor of Medicine and Sociology, Case Western Reserve University · The MetroHealth System · Founding Director, Patient Centered Media Lab
Adam T. Perzynski, PhD, is Professor of Medicine (with tenure) and Professor of Sociology at Case Western Reserve University, and directs the Patient Centered Media Lab at The MetroHealth System, a population health / digital health lab he founded in 2014. His work sits at the intersection of medical sociology, health disparities, and digital health — asking how the neighborhoods people live in shape their health, and building the software and data infrastructure to act on the answer.
He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Case Western Reserve University (2008), his M.A. in Sociology from the University of Toledo (1999), and his B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Toledo (1997). He is affiliated with CWRU's Institute for Smart, Secure and Connected Systems, the Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health, the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods, the Schubert Center for Child Studies, and the Center for Reducing Health Disparities, and serves as Adjunct Staff/Visiting Researcher in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences at Cleveland Clinic.
Beyond the university, Dr. Perzynski serves as Chief Science and Strategy Officer of Global Health Metrics, LLC, and as a Founding Advisory Board Member of InSpirit/TritonX. He is a public figure in population health and digital health circles, regularly cited for his work connecting redlining, neighborhood disadvantage, and health outcomes.
